Healthy Lifestyle

Education Programs

These 30 minute to one hour presentations are delivered by one of St. David's Occupational staff members on site, over lunch, or at any other time convenient for your employees.  Topics include:

  • Understanding Ergonomics:  Ergonomics is the study of how the worker and work-site fit together. This workshop identifies common challenges in computer/workstation ergonomics with recommended solutions.
  • Preventing Repetitive Strain Injuries:  Repetition, whether from fingers typing on a keyboard, forearms twisting in a screw, or backs lifting a box, can result in wear and tear on a body and ultimately pain or disuse. Learn how to minimize the effects of repetition, the benefits of stretching/strengthening activities, and considerations for a healthy worksite.

Flu Shots & Immunizations

One of the easiest ways to prevent illness is to get a seasonal flu shot. Did you know:

  • In the United States, 5-20 percent of the population gets the flu every year. 1
  • The best way to reduce the effect of influenza is by receiving an annual vaccination. A person will not get influenza from the vaccine. 2
  • Flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Don't wait until flu season. Call us to schedule for next year. We'll notify you when the flu vaccine is available and your employees will be able to come to one of our clinics for their annual flu vaccination or arrange for our staff to visit your site.

We also provide immunizations for:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis A
  • Mantoux/TB

Health Risk Appraisals

Health Risk Appraisals (HRAs) work by assessing an individual's risk factors, which are compared to national mortality statistics using equations developed by epidemiologists. It does not tell you how long you will live, nor does it diagnose disease; it simply gives you a way to compare yourself to large groups of people on which medical data have been collected. Results can be provided in an individual report as well as compiled in a snapshot of a company's employees' risk factors.
